About Me

I'm a Brazilian-American who was born in Orlando, FL, USA, but lived for part of my childhood in São Paulo, SP, BR. I got my BS & MS in physics at the University of Central Florida, USA. After that I went to the Netherlands where I completed my PhD in theoretical chemistry, doing research on atomistic simulations of vibrational energy dissipation.

During my PhD, I wrote an atomic simulation suite in Julia, which helped me realize my passion for software engineering. Now I'm a software engineer at Impulse Space in Los Angeles, CA, USA, working on code that automates the physical testing of our spacecraft.

My transition from theoretical chemistry to software engineering might seem strange, but there are actually a lot of talented software engineers in science. Unfortunately, they mostly use Fortran 77, but they are still talented nonetheless lol.

Hobbies

I love most forms of physical activity, with some of the ones I do most often being bouldering, hiking, running and walking. I exclusively do indoor bouldering; I get hurt enough indoors to know that outdoor bouldering would kill me lol.

Outside of physical activities, my wife and I also love doing escape rooms and going out to eat. I personally am also a big fan of pigeons. If I see a cute one, I can't help but take pictures of it.

I'm also a big fan of specialty coffee! I love trying beans from different roasters and seeing how the different processing methods affect the flavor of the coffee.
